Human Pollution of Arctic Study Withdrawn From Journal Before Publication
We were following up a recent science story talking about man-made pollution compromising the polar bears environment (which can be found here http://www.ilovepolarbears.net/405/arctic-human-pollution-also-a-threat-to-polar-bears-future/ ) only to find that the article had been withdrawn by the science journal Environmental International.
There was no further information given as to why it was not going to be published (and therefore not part of the scientific record). In some cases this means that the research and/or findings haven’t met the scrutiny of peer reviews r maybe that the findings weren’t valid. So in order to get to the bottom of the story, we contacted the author, Dr Christian Sonne who is a Wildlife Veterinarian and Toxicologist, who relayed this information to us!;
“There was some Figs and Table changes needed on the foxes therefore it was redrawn. I will have a new proof tuesday so the paper will probably be on-line again within 2-3 weeks.”
What a relief that it wasn’t the quality of the science, nor the findings – we’ll give the full rundown of the paper when it becomes available.
