Steven Kazlowski – Polar Bear Photographer Extraordinaire

Our last two posts have featured links to some amazing polar bear photos by Steven Kazlowski – well after some back door searching, we’ve found the website of his company Left Eye Productions.

This site has THOUSANDS of photos, many of which are of polar bears. Here ar e some of the highlights of this page for us;

  1. Books
  2. Postcards
  3. Notecards

We’ve lifted Steven’s Bio straight from his website: Steven Kazlowski earned a degree in marine biology from Towson State University and worked briefly in the Florida Keys as a marine biologist before setting out for Alaska to pursue his true passion – wildlife photography.

His photographs have been featured in Audubon, Backpacking, Canadian National Geographic, National Geographic For Kids, National Wildlife, Sierra and TIME magazines, and he has published several books: Alaska’s Bears of the North, Alaska’s Wildlife of the North, and Alaska Wildlife Impressions.

He is the only wildlife photographer to date who has extensively photographed the Alaskan polar bear and its critical Arctic coastal habitat, something he wishes to continue throughout the international Arctic – an area rapidly being affected by climate change.

He is known within the photography community for his skills of observation and his determination to capture an image even in extreme weather conditions. Kazlowski lives and travels frequently from Washington to Alaska, photographing the natural world.

Non Polar Bear Conservation Story – Wild Animal Sanctuary

Amazing story about a man who dedicates his life to cleaning up other people’s messes! Here’s the first few lines from the story, just to set the scene!

Here’s a question for you. Which country has the world’s most tigers? India? Indonesia? Not even close.

Try America. Yes, America. Now, these tigers aren’t roaming the wilds of the mid west and they’re not even in zoos. No, these are household pets.

In all, there are some 7000 tigers being kept in the backyards and even loungerooms of everyday Americans. Staggering. And it doesn’t stop with tigers.

Animal lovers with a taste for the exotic are also sharing their homes with leopards, lions, wolves – even bears.

It’s all quite legal, but not surprisingly, things don’t always end well for the owners. Nor for these magnificent creatures.

I hope the links works for people outside of Australia

Here’s a link to the actual sanctuary, which is open to the public http://www.wildanimalsanctuary.org/
